The work that Cheyanne Ramos makes is a processed and fragmented account of her perceived experience with nature and landscape.  These amalgamations have been pieced together from found objects, memory, mass media, and art history.  Her main interest revolves around Man’s disassociation with Nature.  As a child growing up in Northern California, she gained an appreciation of the rugged mountains and the sprawling ocean, an appreciation inhibited by life in the suburbs.  The other half of her life was spent in Georgia and allowed her to gain the appreciation of changing seasons, lazy rivers, and sometimes, unpredictable weather. Now life in the Gulf has presented her a new round of meteorological surprises.  The natural disasters she has experienced in all these regions have left her with the impression of Nature as an ominous, dangerous force. Ramos is currently pursuing her MFA in painting at the University of Houston.
